Recycled Carved Book Sculptures By Long-Bin Chen

Recycled Book Sculptures By Long-Bin Chen Buddah

Utilizing various recycled phone books, newspapers, books, and magazines as his medium, New York-based artist Long-Bin Chen is able to transform them into remarkable sculptures. If you were to take a step back, upon first glance you would think these sculptures to be made of stone, but upon closer inspection the vary detailing, sometime a series of books with different colors, add the grain and texture that make it otherwise. Most of the work is carved from locally printed material into figures of warriors, buddhas and even of Mount Rushmore. He has also done shows in the past in which he aims to encourage communication about consumption, waste, and the pre-digital era of bound books.
