The EnsaimadArt project has a charitable initiative that asked for the design of the round label (270mm in diameter) attached to the iconic octagonal boxes containing Majorca’s most famous pastry – the ensaimada (Ensaïmada). Hence, EnsaimadArt. The ensaimada is a traditional spiral-shaped pastry that is intrinsically part of the island’s nature. Thousands of tourists and visitors will leave the island at the end of their holidays with one, two or more of these unmistakeable boxes.

Daniel Agdag is a Melbourne based artist and filmmaker who creates meticulous industrial objects out of just, believe it or not, cardboard. These complex sets are cut into manageable pieces using a surgical scalpel and assembled intuitively by hand using wood glue without any detailed plans or drawings. He describes his process as being a kin to that of drawing in three dimensions with cardboard.

With the use of several layers of black paper, black foam core and hardware, Canadian artist Kristi Malakoff has recreated this life-sized installation, entitled Maibaum, showcasing a lifelike scene where joyous children are partaking in an old European folk tradition of the Maypole dance. This moment, is as if frozen in time, harnesses the energy that was captured and makes those who enter feel that they were a part of it.
