Its Time to Light the Lights by Brittney Lee

Brittney Lee needs no introduction, we have featured her outstanding work here a couple of times. You may recall her piece for The Little Mermaid, one of my favorite movies as a kid, and her It’s a Small World Tribute. Brittney’s new piece entitled “It’s time to Light the Lights” pays tribute to Jim Henson, making it hold a bit of nostalgia for most. Who doesn’t know The Muppets… and if you don’t there is treat below just for you.

The Paper Fox by Jeremy Kool

The Paper Fox is the working title of a children’s book for android and ipad tablets that Jeremy Kool is currently working on. Jeremy successfully crowdfunded his project through Pozible. The story is created by himself and written by his sister Amanda who is a published fiction author. All of the artwork in the book is done by Jeremy and it’s absolutely beautiful. Characters and the landscapes are created 100% digitally but made to look like paper craft and real origami. We love the style and can’t wait to see the book come to live. Continue reading

Pattern Matters: February 2012

The February 2012 calendar from Pattern Matters spins round and round to show you the day as well as corresponding moon cycle. I love the colors for this particular calendar since the pattern reminds me of the costumes of harlequins.

Words Can Fly A Thousand Miles

You may remember the stunning piece from Brian Li and team last year entitled Still Life Comes Alive, which portrayed thousands of pieces of paper which were folded and glued together to form the sentence which literally and perfectly illustrated itself.
With their more recent piece, ‘WORDS CAN FLY A THOUSAND MILES’ the focus behind the project is to provide an aid to people in Fukushima, Japan suffering from the aftermath of the natural disasters and nuclear plant crisis that occurred last March. They created this three dimensional typographic poster out of paper as a poster which represents their hope that the words and messages can encourage Japan during this difficult time.

Loves Doves by Yulia Brodskaya

We saw the work of Yulia Brodskaya before with some of her earlier style of work like Christmas in Wonderland where she incorporates text as well as a scene. Now she is starting to explore a new style entirely where she makes a portrait completely from quilling like her earlier piece Babushka. This being her latest work entitled “Loves Doves” I can only expect them to become more disarming and more beautiful. To see more details of this piece you can view here.
