After working in their respective industries for some time, they started their careers together as miniature model makers and two years later NV Illustration studio was born. They began with miniature jewelry and display pieces in cut paper, then they started making more detailed dioramas and layered artworks. Their first series in cut paper art were layered portraits of famous personalities from history and present.

“We are people who love and respect nature. Our work has always been influenced by nature and it’s wonders. We used to go bird watching every morning and these tiny little creatures have always made us smile. They were always there to cheer us up when we were down. We have dedicated this series to our little friends as gesture of thankfulness for there immense love and support in our lives. ” – NVIllustration

Each of the cut paper birds are made from 200 GSM acid free watercolor paper and meticulously hand-painted, taking about 4-6 hours to complete and because they have embarked on this 30 day challenge, that have to finish each artwork daily. They begin with a simple sketch on paper, then the layers are traced from the sketch onto 200 GSM watercolor paper. They have managed to capture the essence of each bird through their precision with the X-acto knife and finely detailed watercolor skills. Lastly, they are layered and mounted on 300 GSM acid watercolor paper for framing.

“Through this series we want the people to know and understand the beauty in nature and how important it is in our lives. Climate is changing and we should also change now.” – NVIllustration

You can continue to follow the rest of this challenge by following them on Instagram or buy on of their pieces on Etsy.

How can there be only one comment? Here comes another; these are paper jewels! And to make a real living from making only one or two per day, they must charge at least $400 each, or they’ll be subsidizing buyers’ enjoyment.
