New Intricate Geometrical Papercut Masterpieces by Tahiti Pehrson - Pumpkin of Time

Tahiti Pehrson has become widely known across the globe for his incredibly intricate papercut masterpieces, which pay an homage to Guilloché patterns, a system used to produce a complex series of geometrical patterns seen throughout currency all over the world. His work reminds me of two artists Tomoko Shioyasu and Antonius Bui for the amount of detail that is crafted into a single sheet of paper. However, Tahiti’s work includes layers, which adds to the interaction of light and shadows cast by each sheet. I have included a beautiful video shot by RVCA, visually showcasing his process as well as some more of his incredible sculptural pieces. Enjoy!

“During the past ten years my work has been centered on repetitive architectural patterns and the interaction of form and volume with light and shadow. These creations tend to incorporate an obsessive, neurotic and ultimately meditative element that aims to draw attention to the untintelligible mechanism concealed behind the intricacy of certain shapes and patterns.” — Tahiti Pehrson, for RCVA
