Paper Cut Illustration of Netherlands Coat of Arms

Inspired by the Herbariy project, another project interpreting an official coat of arms, “I WILL MAINTAIN” takes that initial approach in a decidedly different direction – one that aims to test the boundaries of craft. They have taken layer upon layer of various colored and meticulously cut paper and reassembled them into a magnificent burst of details within the illustration. The entire process lasted over a period of 6 months, which included design, multi-stage manufacturing of details, assembly, construction, photography and the final edit. The process was continuously recorded, resulting in over 16,000 shots compiled in the video that you can watch below.
