Talented Delaware-based quilling paper artist and blogger Ann Martin, who explores the worlds of creative paper art and paper craft, has been kind enough to share her work with our viewers. After seeing an article about quilling in a magazine, Ann embarked on her journey to explore this newfound skill. The coils and scrolls drew her in and ultimately piqued her interest in making these incredible and beautiful pieces from just paper and glue. At the time, she didn’t know anyone who made quilling art, so she learned from books and online tutorials. From this, she wanted to share her love of paper crafting and thus the All Things Paper blog was born.

Featured today are some of her specialties, quilled paper jewelry (featured above) and quilled wedding certificates. For the wedding certificates, a traditional Quaker custom, she collaborates with a calligrapher, in this case Riva Brown of Living Letters Studio, chosen by the couple and makes a quilled design. The certificate is then signed at the wedding by the bride and groom, officiant, and guests, and can later be framed as a lovely reminder of the day.

After a year or so of her work on the blog, Ann was contacted by a book editor who was interested in a title that would feature the type of useful and stylish paper designs similar to what she shows on All Things Paper currently. She recruited paper artisans that she has featured on the site to create a variety of home decor, fashion accessories, jewelry, and correspondence projects. Through this process she developed her book entitled All Things Paper: 20 Unique Projects from Leading Paper Crafters, Artists, and Designers which can be found on Amazon. Also be sure to check out some more paper related books in our shop.

Most of the projects are not the quick and easy variety, but all can be completed successfully, even by beginners. The projects are geared to the maker who is interested in learning new skills – paper rolling, making, sculpting, folding, stitching, crocheting (yes, crocheting with paper!), screen printing, bookbinding, and more. Also at the moment a 5-copy book giveaway is underway until March 3 on GoodReads for U.S. and Canada residents.
