Carlos Amorales is based out of Mexico City with a broad selection of works in areas such as large installations, performance, drawing, painting and animation. This piece entitled Black Cloud is a site-specific installation in which the artist, along with the help of 14 others, arranged more than 30,000 black paper moths to the walls and ceilings of several galleries.

Each moth varies in size and shape, but are all the same color to fit the piece’s title. The exhibit has been held in the Yvon Lamber gallery in New York, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and also inside the old baroque church in Spain called Espacio AV.

Upon looking at the pictures from each gallery you feel as you are being surrounded by these creatures and appears as if it is a bit overwhelming. I would love to see this exhibit in person. Many kudos to such a gorgeous, delicate and intricate piece. Truly inspiring.
