Adam Amaral’s Shapehead

Adam Amaral - Shapehead

“Essentially I want to have shapes for a head and I like buffalos, when you combine those two loves you get this…” says Adam Amaral, who shot this amazing scene for his new Demoreel that’s coming out soon!

Inspired by Anamorphic Shapes he realized that making the shape out of paper (one of his favorite mediums) would be his best bet. He first modeled the shape in Maya and then used the program Pepakura to flatten the shape. (Pepakura allows you to import a 3d object and it automatically lays it out for you into something you can fold out of paper.) The final shape was build using poster paper which was strong enough while still being light weight.
